Hi guys,

Kindly advise me on this confusion: In the new PR portal, there is this option to mandatory upload for 'Proof of status' (required).
Under which examples are for PR card, study permit, work permit, etc.

But my wife is outland and has never visited Canada, what should I upload in this section, I cannot skip or put N/A in this section as there is no option to do so.
Kindly help and advise.

I guess, thats Proof of Sponsor's Status i.e, Your Status in Canada.
If you are citizen - scan your passport, PR then your PRC, WP holder then scan your WP etc etc..

That was my initial guess, but, if asking about the sponsor, are they seriously going to ask if the sponsor has a study permit or work permit? Unless the rules have changed, a sponsor had to be a Canadian citizen, PR or status Indian. That was set out in the Application to Sponsor form, IMM1344. Maybe if the OP would share what form is being talked about, it would clarify.

Also, when we applied for my wife's PR, I recall she was asked about her status in her country. But from what we are given here, can't be sure what is being asked of whom.

Yes Kabigan, my bad. You are 100% correct!

It must be Status of Principal Applicant - in the country he/she is currently residing.
So how can you prove that? Simply, if the PA is living in their own country, simply upload PASSPORT info/scan (whatever is asked).
if the PA is working/studying/living in some country other than citizenship provider, then provide the details of the STATUS in that country.

Correct - it must be status of applicant.
Not the sponsor, as the sponsor is going to provide their details anyways.

Yup, I think we agree now.

And I agree with you that the principal applicant can do as you suggest, simply upload passport copy or document showing status in another country.
