Hi,
I am a November outland applicant applying for spousal sponsorship to sponsor my wife who is in India, I have submitted My Application on Nov 5th 2018, below is my timeline,

Application received: Nov 5
Received AOR1 : Dec 20
Sponsorship approval : Dec 21
File transfer to NDVO: Jan 4

I had the following queries regarding my application. If anybody had a similar situation or have any information regarding these , it will be very helpful if you can please share it,

1. My wife is pregnant( which I have mentioned in the application), the delivery date is in May , So once the baby is born, can add the baby also as part of the same application.

2. My has wife has recently moved to a new house in India. We have sold the old house. But in all her documents, passport etc has the old address in it. Should I or should I not update CIC regarding this?

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

1. Are you a Canadian citizen? If you are then your baby automatically inherits your Citizenship even if he/she is born outside of Canada. You will have to obtain Proof of Citizenship for your child. If you are not a Canadian citizen and you are a PR, then yes you have to add your child to the application - prior to this you must have already informed IRCC that your wife is pregnant and attached all of her neonatal check ups and ultra sound with an EDD letter from her doctor to the application.

2. If you are moving or have moved, you need to inform IRCC immediately. Any misrepresentation or omission of information could lead to your file being rejected.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Thanks for you reply. I am not a citizen I am a PR. In one of the application forms it asks whether either of us is pregnant. I have answered yes. Also I have explained it another section and I have also provided an ultrasound. But I did not provide an EDD letter - Should I add it? what is an EDD letter?

My address is Canada is the same which is the address that I have provided for mailing. Should I update the PA's address as well- do I do it using the web form? Will it be problem that the address in her passport and the address that I am providing are not the same?

Hi,

An EDD letter is the Estimated Dude Date for your baby, this information is usually on the Ultrasound, however, the doctor can provide a statement saying that your wife is a patient of theirs and the estimated due date is X. I wouldn't sweat it too much if you have already informed IRCC of the pregnancy in the application - if they ask for it at least you have it ready.

Also, will you be attending your child's birth? If you are not going to be present at your child's birth, you have to send an explanation letter as to why and you have to articulate the hardship you would face if you will head back to India.

Yes, update the PA's address using web form or you can call them to update. It shouldn't be a problem if her passport does not reflect the new address since obtaining a new passport is an inconvenience and you would need to update IRCC with the new passport number. Include an explanation letter with this update.

Okay I will anyways keep the letter ready. Just in case.

I have a planned a trip to India at the time of the delivery. But I am not able to make it, will CIC be asking why I was not present at the time of delivery ? I did not quite catch that point.

Should I provide the explanation in the web form?

Thanks again

Yes you need to provide an explanation as to why you will not be able to attend you child's birth. This can be sent with the EDD letter.

An "EDD" letter is not needed.

OP does not need to provide any sort of explanation about attending or not attending the birth.

Thank you, this information was very helpful.

So I will follow these steps in my case ,

To add your New Baby born outside Canada, you need to do the following;

1. Update IMM5406 form (Section B) and send though IRCC Web Form to Visa Office (IRCC).

Note:

Update IMM5406 - Additional Family Information form Section B with dependent child details as the Principal Applicant has a new child.
2. Update IMM0008 form - Application Details Section Q3 – “How many Family Members, including you, are in this application”.

Note:

Your baby is a not a Canadian Citizen and should be added to the spousal sponsorship. Hence, “How many Family Members, including you, are in this application” the Principal Applicant provided in IMM0008 Application Details Q3 will increase (++) and the newborn is added as a Dependant.
3. Click on the “Add Dependant” button – update IMM0008 form with newborn details.

4. Validate and Send the updated IMM0008 form though IRCC Web Form to Visa Office (IRCC).

5. Send a scanned copy of newborn Birth Certificate issued by government authorities in the country where the child was born through IRCC Web Form to Visa Office (to confirm baby birth).

6. Pay online the Permanent Residency Application Fee for a dependent child (currently 150 CAD).

7. Send a scanned copy of the Receipt of payment for Permanent Residency Fee for a dependent child though Web Form to Visa Office processing the Spousal Sponsorship.

8. When available, send a scanned copy of the data page of the newborn International Travel Passport through IRCC Web Form to Visa Office processing the Spousal Sponsorship.

I had some concern regarding the medicals for my spouse also, since it requires an X-ray, I have not received a medical request yet. I have read in another thread that we can do all the other tests except the X-ray, and provide an explanation letter via web form to VO. Do the X-ray post delivery. Also , would there be a medical request for the baby?

when you receive the medical request and meet the medical panel physician.....the physician will advice regarding post delivery X-ray.....explanation will be sent to IRCC......after adding newborn IRCC will include the newborn in the sponsorship application processing.

Hi Wakki,

We received the medical request on April 16th. But things are a bit complicated now, because we are expecting the delivery of the baby towards the end of this month or the beginning of next month. Also the nearest panel physician available is in a city 4 to 5 hours away from our place. We are not sure of when will it be the nearest safest date to travel, we might get a better picture , when we visit the doctor next on the 22nd of April. So should I inform this to the VO by webform, or do will I need to request any documents from the doctor as well? Is it possible to get an extension of the medical request?

Thanks
