Wow, very nice steaky. Do you also fix your own teeth because a hygienist or dentist might screw up your treatment? Of fix your own car because a mechanic might take advantage of you? Do you represent yourself in court - obviously lawyers can absolutely not be trusted? I'm sorry if you had a bad experience with a consultant or lawyer, but I take pride and responsibility in my work and save many, many more applications than I've ever 'screwed up'
None of what you mentioned. In fact, I am just confident of doing the application by myself. I represented myself to fight traffic offence (at court) and I won. Btw, during covid lockdowns, many people do their own haircuts!

Being confident that you can do your own application (I also did my wife's PR application a way back when) is not the same as slamming the profession. And I also did my own haircut during COVID - not at all pretty. If my haircut were an immigration application it would have been sent back.

What profession are you talking about? Barbers?

Stay strong and don’t give up!

Most people here in the forum apply themselves because they did not want to waste money on consultants / lawyers who potentiially could screw up their application.

You can look at how to extend her stay in the IRCC website. You still have much time and don't apply too early.
Im a UAE resident and a principal applicant. I sent all my documents to my consultant in Canada last January 2020 and by March 9 I received an email that our documents are sent to London Visa Office. I guess processing depends as we have different cases. Now its stuck in LVO due to this COVID.... all we need is a bundle and bundles of patience..

Don’t get no lawyer trust me
Let people decide if they want to get a lawyer or not. as for my case, I got a consultant and trust me, I didn't have any hassle at all. Once we signed the retainer agreement they gave me all the advise and forms that I need, upon completing everything I sent to them by email for review, after finalizing the docs I sent it to them thru DHL. In 3 months upon receipt of my documents, our file was transferred to LVO. My point is, we may want to save a penny, but on my case, paying extra is all worth it because there's an expert who will look into your papers before it is being submitted that makes the smooth process. and im not bothering my consultant as I know everything slows down coz of this pandemic.

am I right @thevisawhisperer :)

Applied spousal sponsorship application ourself without a lawyer. Lawyer said it may take 9-12 months or more, so we decided to do ourself. Approved in 3 months. Outland/Inland depends on where your wife is residing. Outland can be challenged if rejected whereas inland cannot be. So choose whatever suits your need.

As a general rule the lawyer would have been correct. Most do take that long. Some of us are just really lucky. (My husband and I did our own and it was approved in 109 days) How long it takes doesn’t have anything to do with whether you have a lawyer or not. As a lawyer, they’re naturally going to give you a realistic timeline of how long you should expect it will take.

Yes, because they work with their own speed. I just told my case. Lawyers were to take approx 4 months to prepare the file, which we were sure we could do in one month. If the case is simple, definitely you can do on your own. every application is different and is processed differently and takes its own time. We didn't wanted to depend on lawyers completely for updating us on where our file was everytime, when we could do that ourselves. Processing time does not depend upon who submits the application.

The applications are created in a way rhat a lawyer/consultant is not required to apply. A very large percentage apply without the help of a lawyer/consultant. If someone has the time to complete the application they should save themselves the money. Some who want extra reassurance have paid a lawyer to review all their paperwork before submitting.
