Hi All,

My wife is in Canada and a PR. I am in India and she will be applying for Sponsorship through Outland. I have few questions for which I need clarfication:

1. What is the fee that is needed to be paid for Outland Family Sponsorship?

2. The following link provides information how to pay online but does not have information towards which account we need to pay. Hence please provide information.

https://eservices.cic.gc.ca/epay/welcome.do?lang=en

3. Can I apply for an Open Work permit from India?
If yes, please let me know the procedure.
If no, what is the procedure to apply for Open work permit from Canada (once I am there as a dependent)?

Regards

Total fees are $1040 - assuming only you are being sponsored.

No - you cannot apply for an open work permit. You don't qualify if you are applying outland. The open work permit is only available to those applying inland.

You will only be able to work in Canada once your PR visa has been approved and you have landed in Canada as a permanent resident.

ok what if sponsor is citizen so is there the same situation or you can then apply for work permit along with your application at same time

No - you can't.

It makes no difference if the sponsor is a citizen or a PR.

If you use the outland (outside of Canada) process to sponsor, then you cannot apply for the open work permit. The open work permit is only available when applying inland (within Canada).

thanks scylla

1-can you please tell me one more thing so how long it will take after getting the visa to get the work permit...

There is no work permit after you get the visa. Assuming you mean the PR visa, that is your "work permit". PR status allows you to work in Canada once you have landed.
You would need to apply for a SIN number once you get to Canada. Then you can go find a job.
