Hello all,
I have searched the forums and have found some info regarding this topic, but just wanted to post my exact situation here to hopefully get a better answer all in one place.
My wife is here on a tourist visa (she is from Macedonia where a visa is required to visit Canada). We were married here a month ago so we could get the marriage certificate and I could sponsor her. Originally, we didn't consider applying outland, only inland, as we wanted to submit the Open Work permit and have her stay here and work ASAP. However, I was recently informed that outland can be a much quicker option to achieve permanent residency, sometimes even quicker than getting the work permit. I have the following questions regarding this topic:
1) We are planning a wedding back in Macedonia for the first week of June. If we apply outland and she were to return home in November (thats when her return ticket is scheduled for as of now), would she be allowed back in the country if her PR wasnt granted by the time the wedding was over around July 1st. (The toursit visa she was granted is for 5 years and 6 months in Canada per visit).
2) How much faster is outland than inland in terms of receiving your PR? I hear that it is much faster, sometimes even within 6 months of submitting the application if it is a straight forward case which ours is.
3) What are your opinions given the situation? Outland or inland? Consider that she wants to leave Canada and then come back after the wedding.
Thanks
