Outland questions

Hello all,

I have searched the forums and have found some info regarding this topic, but just wanted to post my exact situation here to hopefully get a better answer all in one place.

My wife is here on a tourist visa (she is from Macedonia where a visa is required to visit Canada). We were married here a month ago so we could get the marriage certificate and I could sponsor her. Originally, we didn't consider applying outland, only inland, as we wanted to submit the Open Work permit and have her stay here and work ASAP. However, I was recently informed that outland can be a much quicker option to achieve permanent residency, sometimes even quicker than getting the work permit. I have the following questions regarding this topic:

1) We are planning a wedding back in Macedonia for the first week of June. If we apply outland and she were to return home in November (thats when her return ticket is scheduled for as of now), would she be allowed back in the country if her PR wasnt granted by the time the wedding was over around July 1st. (The toursit visa she was granted is for 5 years and 6 months in Canada per visit).

2) How much faster is outland than inland in terms of receiving your PR? I hear that it is much faster, sometimes even within 6 months of submitting the application if it is a straight forward case which ours is.

3) What are your opinions given the situation? Outland or inland? Consider that she wants to leave Canada and then come back after the wedding.

Thanks

1) I don't know enough about tourist visas to comment.

2) Outland is showing 16 months for Vienna, and Inland is showing 17 months for stage 1 of the application plus 10 months for stage 2. I would find a Vienna thread to confirm, but I would suspect most applications are getting approved/denied much sooner than 16 months, so in my mind, outland is a safer route.

3) If your wife would like to be able to leave Canada for seven months she should apply outland. If your wife applies inland, she cannot be out of the country from November until July of next year.

Hi

1. Entry is never guaranteed but with a valid TRV and a PR app in process, there is very little chance of her being refused entry.

2. I believe Vienna is averaging around a year right now.

3 A requirement of an inland app is that she be IN CANADA cohabiting with you for the entire process. Also, if she is refused entry back into Canada for any reason, the inland app is cancelled. Outland really is your only option if she plans to leave during the process.

Thanks for the responses.

From what I gather, Outland is definitely the way to go. I guess it really is the only option if she is going to leave in November. Hopefully if all goes well she has her PR when its time to come back in July. Maybe we'll be one of the lucky ones.
