Hello;

I am sponsoring my wife. She is in Canada with me on a visitor visa that will expire in 2 months. The thing is that there are too many applications that I think are confusing, at least to me.

I know that there is an inland and outland applications and we are choosing outland for the reason that it takes less time. She performed the medical exam and filled in the forms found here:

cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

You can see that there is IMM5491 checklist and in Part 3: Information guides of the same page you find that every group of countries has its own check list. My questions are:

1- Which forms and which checklist should I fill and attach to the application? Should I follow the checklist IMM5491 or do I have to include the country specific found in Part 3: Information guides ?

2- Can we choose which visa office the application is processed in giving that the sponsorship is approved? if yes, how?

3- if the CIC chooses the visa office randomly as there is no Canadian embassy at my wife's home country, what if they choose a visa office in a country that requires visa as well or the PR application process takes longer time?

Thanks

Ben

1 - Both
2 - No. Even if your wife's country doesn't have a visa office, there is a specific visa office that is assigned to process applications from your wife's home country. That's where her application will go. Where is she from?
3 - n/a

Thanks Scylla for your reply. I appreciate it.

1- Both: does it mean I have to include 2 copies of IMM0008, for example, since it is mentioned in both checklists? Or we include both checklists and every form just once? I know the question sounds to stupid, but I just want to avoid stupid mistakes.
2- Somalia.

There are two checklists, but you only need one copy of the documents on the checklists. This includes things like marriage certificates and police clearances.

Her application will probably go to Nairobi VO, but since she is in Canada there's a chance they will send it to Ottawa.
