Here is how I always get through.
Just wait for the beginning message to start. Theres this weird time when the recorded message kind of changes tone and asks you a question and you're right away able to pick a number. it's a little after the lottery grandparent info message.
As soon as you can choose.. click 2-1-1-0
That's how I get through and Kcwards told me that shortcut.
that definitely seems like it will be a faster way to get to the 0 option. Still saying high volume, so I'll try later. Thanks for the tip!

We're in a similar situation except we haven't even gotten SA yet, and it's very worry some.
Application Received: April 28, 2017
Application Started and GC Account Created: May 19, 2017
Since then, nothing at all.

Whenever I try to call I can never get to talk to a real person either. We're not sure what to do.

If it's any comfort, we applied the end of December and didn't get SA until March. I'm guessing they weren't anywhere near as busy then as they seem to be now. I know it's hard to be patient - been there, done that - but it will come.

Are you stuck in CPC-M as well??

No, we're finished, actually. I just wanted to offer some support. I know how hard it is to wait and not know what's going on.

Oh wow. That's a fast time line to go from SA > DM in around ~3 months. Congrats!

Thank you. :)

I'm sorry you guys are stuck in the backlog. The waiting can be brutal. My best advice ... get away from the computer and live your lives, find other things (pleasant things) to distract you. If you don't think about this so much (which is hard, I know), the time will pass more quickly. And it you have to wait, you might as well enjoy yourselves and be happy in the meantime. Best of luck! I'm rooting for all of you! :)

hmm just called this morning and it was still saying high number of calls. I'll try a few more times and see if I can get through. Thanks!
You might try early in the morning. Before 10am is the best, after that you barely can get through

I would say it is really useful at certain stages of your application. For example:
- If they request an interview with you. The GCMS will have the detail on why they want an interview so that you can prepare for it.
- At some point, you application takes longer than expected (in progress for so long, background/security does not start for so long), in the GCMS note, there will be some notes to read and understand why.

In my case, I've just got my GCMS today. While GCkey and Ecas show as in progress, Eligibility Check in progress, the GCMS notes show in details that the Officer at the VO put a "Recommend Pass" and "Recomend WAV" on my file, no red flags on our relationship. Then he assigned the case back to an officer in Mississauga for another review since mid May. No update till now. Thus, with this thread and my GCMS, I guess that Mississauga might experience some backlog now.

From the experience of other members on this forum (I have read somewhere), they recommend to request the GCMS 4-5 months after the Sponsor has pass the eligibility or maybe 1-2 months after the file is transferred to a local VO. Since then you will have some useful notes on your file. How often to request GCMS? probably a month or two.

Hope this will help you.

Yes thank you!!! This is super helpful to know. And you basically verified what I was thinking in regards to waiting to request the notes until a few months later because for us it's too early at this point so I doubt there will be any useful notes anyway..... Thanks again! Appreciate it! :)

I have applied on 22nd March 2017, on April 21st Sponsorship Approved and medical and schedule A requested on the same day. Provided everything within a week. but haven't received anything about my file has been transferred to LVO or not.
Last month I have emailed to LDNIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and asked them they have received my application or not?
Yesterday, I have received an email from London, that they have received my application. But on ECAS it is still APPLICATION RECEIVED. It must be changed to IN PROCESS.
What do you think guys? How long they gona take more on my application?

London did or didn't receive your application?? They might have just gotten it which is why you haven't seen any changes.

Do you by any chance have the number to call? ive been looking online for it but cant seem to find it.
1-888-242-2100 is the number I call. Supposedly only works if you are in Canada.

Oh whatever Mason just said is ahhhmazing. It used to hang up on you after "experiencing high number of calls". So that's good :D
My guess is that the people sponsoring their grand parents were calling a lot.

hmm ok well, I finally got through to somebody and talked to a real person. He confirmed that they have our package, and the new passport info my wife sent them (because she got her name changed after we sent in the package), and that things are moving along. He said something about me being a sponsor has been approved, but I mentioned I didn't get any sort of sponsor approval email or anything and he claimed that nothing really gets sent out for that, so I'm a little confused. In any case, it's nice to have been able to talk to somebody and at least confirm that everything seems normal to them.

Thanks again everybody for the help and tips!
