Outland Application from Within Canada? Who has done it?

Hey everyone.

Just working my way through the outland forms and I wanted to clarify something. Do I (the sponsor) also have to fill out a copy of the IMM5669 form? The checklist is leading me to believe that it's only to be filled out by the sponsored person, is that right?

"for the sponsored person and each family member over 18 years old"

Does that mean dependants, in this case? We don't have any kids nor do we have kids outside the relationship.

No only the PR applicant. Your circumstances are very similar to us I.e. common-law living in Canada filed Outland.
Everything should go smoothly.

Thanks for clearing that up. How did you approach the part on IMM 5490 when it asks if there was a formal celebration to signify your common law union? Seems like a strange reason for a party, no? lol

Also, what about the section when it asks how often do we communicate, how did you approach that? We own a home together and spend every night together. So I was going to say that when we're not together we're constantly texting. In the odd chance that we are not together that we use things like text or Facebook to keep in touch (we have countless screen caps from Facebook, and what seems like hundreds of emails)

In the odd chance that we are not together that we use things like text or Facebook to keep in touch (we have countless screen caps from Facebook, and what seems like hundreds of emails)

Just explain that. Remember - the forms are the same for everybody, so some questions won't really apply to your particular case. For every question, explain your situation in the best way possible. So for the communication part: explain that you live together, communicate by texts and fb, as well as emails. Don't necessarily print all the emails - you can do a screen shot of the inbox with the emails, it will show dates etc. Then if needed select a few emails that are significant (discussing buying a house for example, or telling a friend/family etc.).

About the CL celebration : it was the same for us - no we didn't have a celebration, because we didn't feel the need. Just explain that, and it should be enough.

As Sweden stated, some questions really don't apply to your situation. Regarding the communication, we said that this didn't apply as we live together. We didn't send any emails or things like that at all, just proof that we live together, which you already have now. The total photos we submitted were less than 20 and showed us together with family and friends and on vacations. Regarding the celebration, we just had a family meal with some immediate family members and one of the photos covered that event. The key is to provide enough proof of your relationship, because that's all they really want to be sure of. I don't believe it's necessary to over burden the VO with too much data. For the common-law celebration thing, we put something like "We don't see the need; all of our family and friends are already aware of our relationship and fully support it."

My partner's answer on communication was "We live together. When she is upstairs, she throws paper airplanes downstairs to me with notes in them." We didn't include phone records, text msgs, emails or anything from Facebook.
