Hello,

I have a question regarding my Outland application for my husband. We are both living in the US currently and it requests proof that we will be moving back with my spouse. Is it sufficient to provide them with a contract from my employer or would it be better to provide my husbands as well. I read somewhere that it is preferable to show evidence of planned employment in Canada for the person who is being sponsored. We can get a contract for my husband if that is ideal, but it is a somewhat sensitive subject at this time as all the details are not finalized and we do not want to rush his employer. If this will negatively effect our application, and possible result in a delay or rejection, we would definitely prefer to ask for my husbands contract so that we can submit it with our application. But if it is all the same, we would rather provide my contract of employment in Canada and have his later for the interview if needed.

Thanks for your help.

Actually, it requests proof that the SPONSOR (the Canadian) will move back to Canada if and when the Principal Applicant (the American) is approved. I am not sure which one of you is the sponsor, but it is that person that needs to provide proof, not the PA.

A bit of reading about such 'proof' here:

http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Spousal_Sponsorship-Canada/FAQ_-_New_Application_Forms#Item_2:_How_do_I_prove_I_intend_to_return_to_Canada.3F

For my own proof, I could not provide evidence of a job as I plan to retire then move to Canada. So I wrote up my game plan and attached letters signed by Canadian friends saying how long I had planned the move, letters from my financial adviser confirming my intention to emigrate and how my finances were structured to support this, my own to do list of stuff to be done running up to the actual move, a list of trips I had taken to Canada, SIN number I obtained last time I was there, Canadian bank account I opened last time I was there, Evidence of money transfers from the UK to the Canadian bank account in prep for the move, details of a Canadian realtor I had contacted, written market appraisal for my house in the UK from a UK realtor etc.

It did the trick!
