I am a Canadian citizen and my husband is British. We are both living and working in the UK but we now want to move to Canada. We are planning to apply outside of Canada with both of us living in the UK until the application is approved. However, we need to prove our intent to move to Canada. A lawyer said we have a better chance, if I were to move to Canada first to get settled in and then apply for my husband to come over but we do not want to live apart. What are our chances on getting approved whilst we are both in the UK? And what could we use as strong evidence to show that we are intending to move to Canada? Can we do this application ourselves or should we get a lawyer? I have been approved for a spousal visa in the UK so I have already been through the hoops of proving that our relationships is genuine. We have been married coming up to a year.

You can do it yourselves without a lawyer.

You can submit proof of job searches, house searches, contact with friends/family about moving, proof of moving assets, shipping quotes etc.

How long have you been in the UK on FLR or ILR? If it's been a while, you might want to consider obtaining British citizenship before you leave. That gives you a chance to return to the UK if Canada doesn't work out.
