I was also out of status. I applied for PR through my Canadian Experience Class in October 2014 and had my application returned as they had reached their limit. I was now out of status and didnt get it renewed as i was informed that i could still apply for PR through Family Sponsorship (my common law fiancee). My OWP didnt arrive after 4 months and when i enquired as to why - i was informed that being out of status i would not get the OWP until AIP stage. It's been 17 months no work, and i am expecting my OWP/AIP any time soon.

The frustration and financial burden is hard, the anxiety and panic attacks associated with being in Canada and going through these processes is difficult to deal with (this website provides a wonderful service both in information provided, and dealing with conditions associated with the whole visa/immigration process). But in the long run, its gonna be a blessing. I've learned new skills and potential other employment avenues than i previously had. I will be able to live with my partner in an area of the world in which we can live happily and be successful. As a white, western European i now understand 'immigration' (and the term immigrant) is not a 3rd world term to describe someone else, usually negatively, and understand what it takes for people like us to get through the system and the undertaking involved.

Chin up. Keep the wind at your back, and the sun on your face, and may the rain only fall on your crops.
Or something like that!

Our initial application was returned because they thought we hadn't included something (we had) - but that put my husband out of status. We resent the application and he received his PR 11 months later (June 2018). :) I have talked to many people who have received their PR while being out of status!

You are posting in the Family Class section of the forum. Your situation is completely different. I suggest you move over to the PNP section of the forum.

I was out of status for more than 10 yrs now, and tomorrow is my landing intervierw. I suggest ask your friends to write a letter too, that your relationship is genuine. He is your beneficiary at your work, joint statement at the bank, and if you don't have a joint statement, explain it to them. try to put his name too in your hydro bills, call them and u want to put your husband's name on the bill

hi thanks for replying.
not so many friends know about our marriage its because of his status. we wanted to keep our privacy.
we couldnt open joint bank account because all his ids are expired, they wouldnt open account but i added his name to the hydro bills.
was also wondering that they ask social media accounts, we both dont use social media for privacy concerns, do you think this will be problem? thanks again

If you could ask even few from your friend or his friend letters that is a plus. Coz u really need to prove to the agent that the relationship is genuine. Also you have to tell your hubby to write an explanation why there is no joint account or he's not on the lease.

Just to warn you, having a baby will not help your case. Some are told it will. Give that your application has quite a lot of obstacles and you should be the only one working, having a baby would complicate your life even more. Expect aa lot of scrutiny of your case and that it could take over 12 months.
