If i'm sponsoring my wife and she is living with me in Canada, does she need to be in her home country for any reason for us to complete the application to start an Out-land sponsorship process?

My wife is US citizen

Can she get her Police Certificate while living in Canada?, medicals too?

We are planning travel dates based off information i receive here please and thank you. :-\

Hi, I too am from the US and living in Canada with my Husband, my sponsor. Yes everything can be done here in Canada her medicals and FBI printing. You can use an address here in Canada to have the results of the FBI check sent to, we did mine not too long ago and it took about 6 weeks from when they were sent to when I received the paperwork to send to CIC. I did my medicals here as well. Good Luck and God Speed to your application.

Thanks so much for the reply, but did you apply inland or outland while living in Canada?
apply outland, there's absolutely no benefit for an American to apply inland. lately, Ottawa VO processes US applications very fast , at around 6-8 months.. the husband of a user from here (Zarilenth) got his visa in 5 months! you can still live in Canada while having an outland application. just submit an extension so you can stay longer, maybe until you're all done with the PR process. good luck! ;D

Very good information to hear about.

Is there anything my wife should do concerning our Outland application before she "visits" (lives permanently in) Canada.

We plan on having her Police Certificate coming to us in the mail from her State to my Province. Then doing the Medical here in Canada while we fill out the paperwork together. any reason this wouldn't work out?

i don't know honestly, but i think that being straightforward at the border helps. for example, pay the fees for PR (1040 CAD in total) and tell her to have a receipt with her - let her tell CBSA she wants to file an outland application while visiting you. OR she can just say she's visiting her husband. US nationals that have done this (many) may tell you more about this.

you can definitely do the medical in Canada, i think it's cheaper too. her FBI clearance mailed to your address is fine ;)

When people say to either apply Outland or Inland, what part of the application is it that decides this?

I know when you are getting your application package there are two options "If your partner lives with you in Canada" and "If your partner lives outside of Canada". Is this where you decide which package you are getting (outland vs. inland)? I have a partner living with my from the US but am unsure of how to make sure that I apply Outland. We have already started filing papers for "If your partner lives outside of Canada" because we assumed that is what that meant.

Thanks

yeah, that's the difference. the inland application is called "the in canada class" or something similar. you're on the right track. but as i previously said, your partner can stay in Canada as long as he has a valid status (visitor). if he's past the allowed 6 months, just submit an extension and he can wait the whole PR process in Canada.
