Our spousal sponsorship application took 2 years and 2 weeks to reach conclusion. The application was approved and my husband is landing tomorrow, 31 days after he received his PR notification.
It's been a long hard journey and they never gave us any satisfactory answer as to why it took so long. Each time we called to get a status update they repeatedly said the results of security checks were still not received. It didn't make sense. It all seems so random and pointless and caused personal suffering. Some others from his country came through in as little as 10 months.
But in the end, after many complaints to the M.P.'s office, they finally admitted they have no questions, no red flags, no need for a 2nd interview, no problems found, no additional information was needed, and yet the V.O. still had to be ordered by Immigration HQ to do the work and finish the file
I'm posting this just to share that the process for some people can be long and frustrating and depressing when there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel and no explanation for why it's taking so long.
Hang in there. Your good news may finally arrive one day and you can put the misery of the long wait behind you.
