The latest test invite I know is for an early March application in Ottawa and it was scheduled on September 19th.

yes it must be Cprak0. March applicants, other than hgn, do not seem to be very active in the forum. So I do not know if they have got their test invites or not.

@ hgn and other recent Ottawa test takers...

Could you pl tell me what how do tests go? So first test, then the interview? It used to be the other way around
and it would take them a while to get the results back. Looks like these days the score is revealed right away followed
by document verification/ interview.
So we have the test scheduled for 8:15 am was wondering if we should cancel a 12:00 noon work related appointment
on that day?

Hi.

I will try not to give very detailed info on the experience, the test proctors will give all the info you need and you just simply need to follow them. ;D

1. The test will happen first, once you are done with the test, the proctors will give detailed instructions on where to go and where to wait for your turn for the interview/doc verification.
2. They will have to check your answers then call you for an interview. They will immediately tell you your score once you reach the 'stall' for the interview an doc verification.

2a. Be aware that the interview/doc interview at Catherine St. is standing up - its like talking to a bank teller with tall dividers in-between other applicants

3. The interview can be anything under the sun depending on your case, it can be as short as 5 minutes to 30 minutes or maybe longer. For myself, about 5 minutes, for my wife, its the same. They simply asked what we were doing etc...standard stuff.

3a. The interview can be language assessment, discussion on verification of docs, the weather, the Toronto Blue Jays....anything!
3b. The documents required from you on the interview will also vary depending on your case, so bring ALL documents listed in your test invite.

4. Our test was at 1030am, we found out that the parking lot beside the building was already full at 915am when we arrived there. There is another parking lot (across) near the building, Ensure you have at least $7 in change. That parking lot only accepts coins and you can punch in only half an hour ($1), full day ($7 til 6pm that day) or weekend rates. Tip: that machine does not accept new loonies, so make sure you have spare coins. No card nor phone payment.

5. Suite 201 is obviously on the second floor, make your way up the stairs to the first (and only) double doors you see, if you are nervous and looking for the washroom, its inside these doors as well.

5a. There will be a nice gentleman (the security) officer who will check your test invite letter, ensuring you are coming for the correct date/time and will let you know where to wait etc.
5b. Arrive early! This will help you alleviate the nerves. Arriving very close to the test time may make you nervous further.

6. They will provide you with pencils for the test.
7. Ensure your basic IDs (PR card etc) and the test invite letter are easily accessible as they will ask for these a few times prior to the test.
8. Oh...the test is NOT done on school type chairs/tables, you only have a chair and a clipboard...fun times.
9. The last of the 815am test takers who were doing the interview...and I mean the last few, left the office around 930-945am. So if you have a 12nn appointment, you should make it (unless your appointment is across town and going through traffic/construction zones).

All in all, we arrived at 915am, left CIC nearly 11am.

Hope that helps.

PS: those waiting for test invites, I observed that when Ottawa has a slew of oath ceremonies, the test invites slow down. This week of Sept 21-25, there are 3 oath dates, so expect work on test invites very soon. I wouldn't call Ottawa slow, they are actually doing a good job on processing applications as fast as realistically possible.

I agree with hgn, except that for me, I spent about 20 mins in that building in total. Test completed in 5-6 mins, interview completed in 3-4 mins. The rest of 10-12 mins was the waiting time + checking my documents before test + waiting for interview after test. It was pretty fast, I was amazed. We were just about 10-15 people to take the test that day.

The reason why tests slow down when there are oaths is most likely because they are using the very same court room for both, and this week, according to CIC website there are about 3 oath ceremonies every single day, so probably there will be no test there this week, or maybe 1 or 2, max.
