Got our QA interview this morning. Hardest part was security: it's safer than a bank in there! We told the guy outside we had an interview and bypassed the queue, inside we just had to wait for the time that we'd been given.
The designated officer was on time, efficient, friendly. We went through all our documents, it took something like 30 minutes for the 2 of us. Nothing to declare, all clear! Had a nice chat, when I thanked him for organising this given our situation he said he was planning to fly to the Middle East in October for future interviews (this is probably confidential information so please don't quote in correspondence with them). Others here may not have to go to London at all?
He took our passports...and brought them back half an hour later, with the visas and all the documents! We never even spoke to the dreaded receptionist!
In total we spent less than 90 minutes in the High Commission, and that includes arriving 30 minutes early ;D. I presume they would do the same if someone else was coming from very far for an interview.
The whole thing was the complete opposite of the immigration process so far. Fast, nice, professional, efficient.

I'll just take some time to organise my thoughts and feelings at this moment... and of course I can start planning my arrival in Canada.

sounds like a great experience you had.
I am hoping to collect mine on Thursday as they said! we cannot wait. Flights will be booked on Thursday for 21 July, it seems surreal after everything we have gone through.

unfairsystem, this was a random Quality Assurance interview just to check our original documents against those we'd sent before. All the officer did really was compare every single photocopy with the original, plus check our latest bank statements and pay slips/contracts.

As for party time I'm afraid our situation has changed recently due to family circumstances, so I'm glad I got my visa but my mind is on other things if you see what I mean. A little too cruelly ironic, but that's life.

Anyway, will keep you posted!

I haven't asked CPPO about the status since I've done my medicals back in Jan 2011. I'm not sure if I have to e-mail them by now or just wait. What do you think?

I got my passports back today, as they promised after 1 week due to the emergency of our case. Booking our flights this evening for 21 July... just 1 week and a half away. Quite scary actually! will let you know how it goes. We will be very busy in the next couple of days organising everything.
M+JM: hope things get better, as you said, it is a good thing that at least you dont have this worry in your head.

Hi Ed and M+JM, Congrats on getting your passports back and M+JM hope everything works out for you.
Managed to get tickets booked for Sept with Air Canada. All I need to do now is list the items that will be going with us and items to follow. I read a while back on some threads people were using spreadsheets to list their items, does anyone have a copy which I can use as a template? or guide me how the list should be arranged.
