hi...

I am facing this problem with the university for original transcripts.
I asked them to seal the notarized copies of the degrees.
They told they do not want any copies from us. I was told just to give a written application and write the university enrolment no. and the year of passing. They will make a copy of it and put the registrar/vice chancellor of the university's stamp and then put the university seal.

My doubt is that in the cic website they have mentioned who all can certify........the registrar of the university cannot certify according to that...... http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG73.asp

will this be accepted???????

Sushid0c,

The university registrar cannot certify unless s/he is also one of these:
* a judge
* a magistrate
* a notary public
* an officer of a court of justice
* a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

I think this goes only for certifying any documents. But when it comes to university documents, only authorized people in the University can give one out (such as a university registrar, etc). Some universities (such as those in Pakistan) don't give out more than one original transcript so I think it would be okay for you to get the stamp from the university and let them put it inside a university envelope.
Re-reading through your message, it doesn't sound like they are certifying it. Sounds like they are only putting a stamp on it, which is what they do with originals anyway. What makes an original valid is the stamp i guess.

I would also add a letter to the CIC to say that your university doesn't give out originals.
I read on trackitt that people who did similar to this (under the old rules) were generally asked to come for an interview and they took their originals incase CIC wanted to compare.

I have no experience in this, so wait for someone else to reply as well.

I simply made photocopies of my certificates/mark sheets and got them attested from my bank manager...and faced absolutely no problem from CIC!
