Original/Photocopied Documents

Hello,

My girlfriend is sponsoring me under the Family Class. In terms of us proving our relationship, ie: boarding passes for flights taken, working visa for Canada, proof of address, etc, should these be sent as original documents, or their photocopies?

Also, when sending pictures of us together, is it enough to send screen prints of our facebook photos, or should we have "proper" photos developed?

Thanks,

James

There's nothing to my knowledge that would serve as proof of your relationship that needs to be submitted in original form. If you want to send photocopies of photos, boarding passes, etc., the visa office is going to accept them as long as they can read/see and understand them. If you want to send those as originals, you should be prepared for the possibility that they may not be returned (although, often, they are) so that's something to keep in mind before you mail off something of sentimental value to you that you would prefer not to permanently part with, such as a card or a love letter. Read the checklist for Family Class spousal sponsorship applications as that lists exactly what CIC expects you to send as an original document. In addition to the IMM forms of course, the most important of these documents, but not necessarily exclusive, are the police clearance(s) and the copy 2 of the IMM1017 medical form signed by the examining doctor.

I think it's all personal preference.

I have about 75 photos that i took to the shop and had printed like real photos, and others i just put into word documents 3 on a page and printed from my computer.

boarding passed, i took screen shots and put them into word documents and printed them. physical boarding passes i had, i photocopies 2 on a page (if they fit)

I also took screen shots of facebook conversations and posted into word and printed.

joint bank account statements etc i sent originals since i don't need them anymore but scanned them for my own records to keep just in case.

hope that helps

Cheers Figgy:)

I was thinking it's probably more a personal preference thing. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't doing something that I was definitely not supposed to do.

Thanks again:)
