Hello everybody!

I’m working here in Abu Dhabi. I’m on the way preparing my requirements for Temporary working permit application in Canada. As per the checklist, original passport is required to submit whereas I’m unable to submit my original passport due to my passport is with my employer. In this case, can I submit a photocopy of my passport? Is proof of fund is also required for TWP application? How much the possible amount to show? Please advice!

No, submit what is asked for. It is illegal for employers to hold on to your passport. Anyway, why not borrow your passport from your employer? For Proof of Funds, ypou can show some and the the job offer/contract showing how much you're going to receive.

Thank you very much for the reply.

However, based on my research I got a little bit confusion with the information shown below. I got this information from the checklist for temporary foreign worker application, UAE/Gulf.

"VALID PASSPORT OR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS"
For all Temporary Worker Applications except Live-in Caregivers :

You must submit your original passport or travel document with your application and be
prepared to leave it with us throughout the processing period. If you cannot leave your passport
with us for at least 4 weeks, you must submit a photocopy of you the biographical page of your
passport or travel document including your residence visa in the Gulf or Yemen.

Based on this information, is it possible to submit photocopy of passport? or they still need the original? Please advise.
