Hi

I received an IELTS certificate back in 2010 and submitted the original with my application for Permanent Residency. I have a scanned copy of the original which I was going to submit with my application, however will the citizenship judge need to see the original during interview? Unfortunately IELTS test centres only retain results for two years.

I am not sure if during the interview they will be focussing more on my actual spoken interaction with the judge and assess my English ability that way, or would the lack of original be a sticking point? I can understand this would be the case for the other documents, but given the original was previously submitted to CIC and I will be interacting with the judge during interview I am not so sure.

Thanks
Pero

According to the Operational Bulletin 469 - October 31, 2012 published at cic web site (Applicants must provide a copy of their language evidence with their application (as per the Final List of Acceptable Evidence provided as Appendix A of this OB). CIC will be able to return the applications of those who do not provide evidence that they meet the language requirements up front. This rule will also give citizenship judges better objective evidence on which to base their decision.

All original documents submitted with the citizenship application must be presented by the applicant at the time of testing or hearing for confirmation except for any third-party test results which are listed in Appendix A. These applicants will have already submitted the original for immigration purposes and will no longer have it in their possession.)

Awesome! Thanks Saloo. This really is the most positive news I've had amongst all this C-24 talk :)

I was in similar situation like you. I had submitted copy and I had no original. I had my test and interview today and no one even asked for any copy or any original

It's too soon for me to ask this question given I just got AOR, but I'll ask it anyway. I'm wondering if I need to order another official transcript, because I submitted the sealed originals with my application. Thanks
