Hello Everybody!

I applied for PR under the spouse/common law category in September, 2014. Is it worth to order the notes now, or should I wait some more? What can I find out from them? And where do I order them from?

Please let me know, if you have ever ordered them.

Cheers!

It is about 3+ months since you applied. Refer to the processing times for applications at the link below:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-fc.asp

As of February 4, 2015 the processing status is as below:

INLAND APPLICATIONS: Working on applications received on September 10, 2013

OUTLAND APPLICATIONS: Working on applications received on November 6, 2014

Link to request GCMS notes:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/atip/requests-atip.asp

There may not be a whole lot of information but if you desire you can request. It costs $5.00 at the most or it may be free of charge depending on who is making the request.

Thanks so much RajaJi, plus one! :)

I am sponsoring my wife. When ordering notes can I order them or does she have to request them? Also do they get sent via mail or e-mail?

You can order them. You will need the Consent Form signed by your wife. If your wife is in Canada then she can order it herself. You will have the option to receive them via mail or email. It takes 30 days from the date of request. It is faster via E-mail (save the days it will be in mail).

Follow the instructions on the page at the link in my earlier post.

We both live outside of canada right now. Can we still order them?

yes, the sponsor can, though i think you will have to pay the $5 fee since you are not in canada. and you'll need your spouse to sign an authorization form to release her file info to you.

Do you think after waiting 5 months it's worth to order the notes? or should I wait at least a year?

What if we use her info to fill out the request? Or does that UCI number refer to me only or to the file?

i don't think an applicant can order notes unless they are in canada. the sponsor needs to order the notes for both files.

there is a you tube video that explains how to fill it out.

there's no need to wait a year to order notes, by that time the applicant could already be a PR (if an outland applicant). Notes can be ordered anytime. 5 months is a good enough time to see if any movement has been made on your file. there are people who order them monthly.

Last question. Since I will need to order the notes and get her to sign the consent form, does that mean that we have to send it via regular mail as opposed to sending it online or can you fill out the consent form and scan and send it?

you can certainly scan the consent form and do it all online.

Thanks a lot for the help. Obviously sending it via regular mail would take considerably longer.
