Hello all members,

I have been working on a PGWP for a year now, and when I was hired the job didn't require a LMIA. According to the instructions for Express Entry a candidate working on PGWP is no longer exempted from a LMIA.

At this point I'm researching how to obtain a LMIA. Is it possible that my employer can get LMIA for me (considering I am working for them for a year now)?

What are the ways to find a position which is LMIA approved? Do you think employers will go through LMIA process to hire PGWP candidates?

When I search for the LMIA process, I come across following link, which is not helpful in explaining the process.

http://www.esdc.gc.ca/eng/jobs/foreign_workers/index.shtml

I may come up with more questions, but for now that's it.

Hi,

I do as well would like to know the possibility. I only have three months left of my current work permit and my score is only 425. I am working on my IELTS still. But I am trying to find all possibilities to let me stay, instead of going back and wait.

I would like to know the possibilities of getting a positive assessment, if I can find an employer to do the documents for me.

Many thanks.

Unfortunately the current LMIA process is quite long and expensive (for the employer), being difficult to find employers that are willing to go through the hassle of this process. They are required to advertise the position for a couple weeks in different websites, pay more than CAD$1000 for the application and offer you a proper wage for the position (which needs to meet or exceed the province’s average).

This is not quite true. While on PGWP, you don't need LMIA to apply to EE. You need PNP certificate to obtain 600 points in CRS.

New grads do not need LMIA to obtain PGWP, either, under LMIA exemption code C43.
