I requested my 2013 Option C form, and was informed by mail today that there is no information available for 2013..
Would it be fine to send the 2012 form? or, how will I know when my 2013 info will be available?

your option c form will only be available for the years you have filed your taxes. if you haven't filed your taxes for 2013, then one will not be available for 2013. if you have filed your taxes for 2013, then it can take about 4 weeks for CRA to actually accept and complete the return. After that, an option C can be requested, and it takes 10-14 days to receive it in the mail.

Have you filled for you 2013 income tax return?

If not, Option C will not be available and for what I understand they want Option C for the most recent taxation year therefore you can't give them 2012 option C.

The quickest way to get Option C after you file for your claim is online request instead of phone request. Because it takes 5-10 business days before you receive them whereas online you get them the same day

I did file for my 2013 taxes around the beginning of last month.
Do you have a link for the online way? I was under the impression that it was by phone only.

Ordering online is so much faster because you get it right away....

Here is the link:

Make sure that you have your 2013 income tax return with you when you go online because they have questionnaire that you will find the answer to from your return. This is to ensure that you are who you said you are :) I hope this helps you.

There is an old thread about it also.

I took a look and couldn't find the Option C printout online.
I thought you could only get it by phone also.

When you called to ask for the option C, did you ask them when you would be able to have the 2013 one?

I sent 2012 option c Information that was sent to my husband and letter from his job..( we got an approval to sponsor) so i think it was ok.

if you just filed your tax returns for 2013, it can take 4-6 weeks for them to be accepted by the CRA. This happened with my husband. He filed mid-January, and they weren't fully accepted until the end of Feburary. Apparently CRA finalizes assessments in batches monthly, so no matter when you file in a month, it won't be ready until the end of the next month. So, best suggestion would be to contact your accountant and find out if they've been accepted yet.

technically, taxes aren't due until sometime in April, like here in the US, so i think if we've applied before then, they won't be requesting a 2013. That's my hope at least. :)

Yes that was my logic as well..at first a bit apprehensive to send..

There is another solution to this whole option C thing.

I did the same and it worked.

You can send them the income tax preparation papers that your accountant sent to CRA, send them the whole thing if your Option C is not avail.

Then write them an explanation why you are not including your Option C with the application.

Let them know that because it is early on in the year and that you tried to order them but they aren't avail yet and that is why you are sending them a copy of your income tax return instead. They will take this because according to the checklist, I don't remember the exact wording, but it was somewhere along the lines of, if you cant provide Option C please explain.

You may also want to include in your letter that once your Option C is avail that you will be happy to send it to them.

That is exactly what I did and I just remembered it now and there was no problem with my application and I got the sponsorship approval.

Just make sure that you really called and requested for your Option C and that it really isn't available :)

I hope this helps!
