My wife is the Canadian citizen sponsoring me - she's lived and worked permanently in the UK since 2006. I assume that a note stating this and including her latest P60 (UK annual tax summary) will be sufficient instead of an "Option C printout"? She still keeps a Canadian bank account and credit card, which are used on vacations or for family birthday presents etc. but she has not earned any money in canada or paid taxes for five years.

Is there any reason therefore that she would need an Option C printout?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Chris

You can always check with the International Tax Office of Canada Revenue Agency to see if they can provide you the Option C printout! I really doubt it if your wife does not file tax return to CRA. Alternatively, you will have to write a letter explaining your situation and attach something like UK annual tax summary to support how you make living...

My husband has lived and worked abroad for over a decade. All we did was write a letter explaining that and have his boss make a printout of all his paycheques over the past 12 months which worked just fine.

Mmshock's explanation is accurate. Since your spouse has not been working in Canada for a very long time, she won't have the Option C print out or the Income Tax Assessment Print out. I've seen a lot of people in this forum in the same situation, a brief description why your spouse cannot provide the Option C and printout of all the paycheques for the past 12 months should be sufficient.

As the sponsor, I have been living & working in the UK since 2001 and haven't been filing taxes in Canada.

So I provided a copy of all my P60's for the last 10 years and payslips for the last 12 months.

Everybody has answered your question correctly. No tax file, no option C printout - it's simple. all u have to provide explanation and attach your local country Income tax Return copy or paycheques for last 12 months. These would be enough.

Since u r Canadian Citizen and Employed outside Canada, it is also important you write a note how you will establish and be tied with Canada after your spouse got approved for PR visa. Your establishment and ties with Canada is important even though u r Canadian Citizen.

Cheers

I'm living and working in Dominican Republic. I don't pay Dominican taxes because only those above a certain pay bracket pay taxes. My work is paid by direct deposit. This is Dominican Republic here so pay stubs are not given... What can be included? If I can get the bank to print out account activity is this sufficient?
I file taxes in Canada but my pay from DR is considered below poverty line in Canada (wages are extremely low in DR).
Thank you.

When you file Tax return in Canada, did u mention foreign Income? It's important. So that your Canadian Tax file will have your Dominican Income information.

In connection with your Dominican part, provide reference letter from your employer ( job description, length, wage amount, position) and his/her business card. Make sure reference letter is on Company letter head. Also, write explanation why you could not provide Tax return document.

As u said, certain income levels required to file Tax return, you should explain that in your note with reference / proof ( where does it say that); such as, Gov't website, Tax Guide. Immigration mission always like to see 3rd party ( Recognized) reference.

If u don't pay tax in Dominican, explain why you don't and what the Gov't regulations say about low earners.

Actually, income verification is required to show that u will be able to support your spouse when she/he becomes PR. That's undertaking law.
You agreed to support her while she becomes PR and lives with u. That's why employment is still positive indication for Visa officer to assess you as sponsor. Even your income is low, show it. VO wants to see that sponsor is in employment to establish his/her living expenses.

Thanks for all the responses! I'm getting everything ready to send off tomorrow. I'm glad that this won't be a stumbling block.
