Hi,

I will be landing in April 2016 and would like to start with the processing of my Spouse's sponsorship application. I was going through the documents checklist and came across the "Option C printout", PCCs and Medical Exams requirements.

My questions are:
1. In case I want to sponsor my spouse before I get a job, can I do this?
2. If yes, would a Option C printout be generated for me?
3. In case I get a job and apply in two months after getting a job, how would I get an Option C printout for the last taxation year (I would not have completed an year by then)?
4. My wife is currently in US and has a Police Clearance Certificate which was issued in June 2015 (from Police Dept in India). Would that work or we need to get a new one for her?
5. Would PCC be issued from Indian Embassy in US or from Police Department back in India?
6. Would the old Medical Examination be valid (July 2015) or she needs to undergo it again?

Thanks a lot in advance.

1. Yes, but you will have to prove that your spouse won't require any financial support from the government (i.e., that you have sufficient resources to support him/her)
2. Since you haven't filed taxes, you can't receive an Option C printout since CRA has no information on your earnings as of yet
3. See above. In this case, you will have to provide a letter from your employer with your salary, paystubs, bank statements, etc.

I'm not sure about the rest.

3) You wouldn't, you just need to explain why.
4) Has she lived in India since that date? If not then it is still good.
5) Either is ok http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/asia-pacific/india.asp.
6) Medical exams are good for 1 year. So, if you send it in before July it will be accepted, but you can probably expect she will have to remed at least once.

Hi,
How come your wife wasn't on your application for PR? And did you get married after receiving PR visa or before? Those are the questions you need to ask yourself right now before anything else Because if you did not declare her on your PR application then you cant sponsor her. From what I read you haven't even landed yet so that means u wife should have been included in your PR application.

Hi Aquakitty,

Thanks for the response.
Regarding point 4, the Police Certificate was issued in June and she lived in India till October 2015. What do you think?

Hi mekima,

In the Express Entry system, there was an option of marking your wife as non-accompanying. I declared that I am married but my wife would be non-accompanying.
