Option-C Printout and Open Work Permit Questions :)

Hi everyone!

These should be very quick questions...

I'm an American applying for PR as common-law... my fiancé is Canadian, I am American, and we lived and worked together in the states for the last 4 1/2 years. We both live and work in Canada now (I have a TRV/work permit). What I'm wondering is: Since my fiancé has been in the states for 4 1/2 years, should we just enclose his US tax forms from those years in place of the Option-C, and just attach a note explaining that he hadn't worked in Canada for almost 5 years? And of course we will include a letter from his boss here stating his current salary. Does that sound like the right idea to you guys?

Also, I want to apply for an OWP so we get it when (if?! ??? ) we get AOP. Can anyone link me to the correct form? I want to make sure I get the right one. Also, do you just enclose the OWP application with your PR package, or do I have to send it somewhere else?

Hey Monica,
I believe you are doing the right thing about OptionC. I used to work in the US and tax returns and W-2s are the supporting documents I submitted as an alternative to OptionC.

I'm not sure if you are applying inland (through Vegreville) or outland(through Mississauga). You can only apply for a OWP if you apply inland.

This is the form you should use to submit with you PR application in order to get a OWP as soon as you get stage 1 approval.

lynnbb Thanks so much! I am applying inland. I'll just fill out that form and stick it in the envelope with everything else then! And good to know... I'll submit his W2s from this last tax year, since that is the time frame for the Option-C printout they ask for. Hopefully with my explanation that he only worked in the states, everything will be fine
