Hi All,

I am opting to get a notarized job reference letter for my current employment to be supported by additional documents like pay slip etc. While drafting a LOE to explain the reason, I am mentioning that the company has verbally refused to provide this letter while I am in employment with them. However, in reality I have not requested them for the same because of the obvious reason of uncertainty in obtaining PR and I do not want my current employers to know my intent of leaving the organization in near future.

I would like your thoughts if I should proceed with this? Also, alternative reasons which can be used in the LOE are most welcome.

P.S. - The option of requesting the current organisation for the letter is totally out of question.

Thanks in advance.

I can't see how notarizing a reference letter could help you? Are you planning to write this letter yourself? That could bring you trouble. I don't see any other way, apart from getting a letter of reference from your employer. Besides you telling them that they have verbally refused to write a letter (when actually you haven't even asked them) will definitely sound fishy (specially if the company has other people who have applied with a reference letter).

I might be wrong on this, but other members might be able to help you here. I think your chances of not getting the PR increases if this letter doesn't come from the company you work for.

Hi A-star,

Congratulations on getting your PR!

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts on this. I do agree with you that this explanation sounds fishy and as I am working in a very MNC, there is a high chance that there are others who may provide this letter after obtaining it from the organisation. As I said in my OP, due to certain team specific environment, I am currently reluctant to share my immigration plan with my leader and I am pretty sure that any request to HR would be re-directed to my immediate leader for approval and signature. This is also to avoid any negative impact on my future prospects in the current organization in case I am unable to obtain PR for whatever reason.

It would be great if you could share any other reason which I can share in my LOE for not providing this letter on a company letter head.

Also, did you upload any generic LOE at the time of filing your application in the same space provided for additional documents or you shared LOE's with specific document uploads?

Thanks in advance.

Hi VSG,

I'm facing the same problem wherein I do not wish to apprise my current employer of my PR plans. Wanted to check how exactly did you go about this eventually. Would really appreciate if you could help me with this question. Thanks in advance.
Also would it be okay if I do not declare my current job at all, I'm qualifying the cutoff without that. Will it impact me getting a job later on when I land?

Hi Div,

I provided a notarized job ref letter signed by my colleague along with a copy of his company i card and contact details.I also provided a LOE wherein i jusf wrote that due to my inability to obtain on requisite info on comoany letter head I am sharing alternate documents. I have not given any reason as to why I was not able to obtain, hence, I have not lied or mis represented. Also, I have provided my appointment letter and past 6 months pay stub. My app is still under process so I cannot guarantee that this is full proof but I believe this is the best alternative which others in this forum have also opted to do..

All the best
