Hi, I have applied for PR for my family and submitted the application, but I have failed to meet the 30 day deadline to submit the medical test as I failed to read the notice given by my consultant. He has requested an extension to submit the medial test but have not got any response. I was overseas and could not have returned to do the medicals in any case. What will the procedure be from this point onwards? Will I have to resubmit the whole process from the start or could I submit the medical on the expired notice? What are the chances of not getting an extension?

The medical can be done anywhere in the world. Get the medical done as soon as possible. It doesn't matter where you are. Don't wait for IRCC to respond on the extension request. Just get the medical done asap.

So if I get the instruction to get the medical test done, I can go to any approved physian panel in the country where i am travelling that time right?

I was also wondering that a new regulation says you do not need to do the medical test again if you have done it in last 5 years provided you share the IME ref number? I did a upfront medical test, where do I find my IME number now?

You can go to any approved physician listed here: https://secure.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

You may be exempt from completing another IME if you meet all of these conditions:

  • You applied, or are applying, for either permanent residence or temporary residence.
  • You already live in Canada.
  • You completed your previous IME in the last 5 years.
  • Your previous IME indicated a low risk or no risk to public health or public safety.
IME should be in the system. Check your previous application, maybe it was assigned a number. I'm not familliar with upfront medicals. I'm not sure if you actualy need to actualy "share" this number

Not aware of such a regulation, if there is one, pretty sure it does not apply to this situation (that is, has been misconstrued or misread by whomever told you about it).
