OpenWorkPermit Expired - Express Entry (canadian experience) in process and bridging WP in process

Hi, my Canadian experience Express entry application is in process since past 7 months, work permit is expired 3 months back. and bridging work permit is process since past 3 months. I have a few questions -
1) do i need to have an "approved" work permit or visiting visa for my PR application to get it processed?
2) am i legal to work ?
3 how long it normally takes for PR to get processed ? as its already 7 months in process and background check has not started yet.

As long as you applied for BOWP before you work permit expired,

Hi, I'll be in a similar situation soon. My WP expires Feb 10th, 2020 (5 years) . If all goes as per plan, I'll submit my PR application by October/November end this year (I am getting pretty decent score in the points calculator and I hope it is accurate). Can I apply for a bridging permit as soon as I get my Invitation to apply (around 2-3 months before my WP expires)??

Does Canadian elections in October changes any of it?

No, you cannot apply for the BOWP with just an ITA. You have to submit a complete eAPR first and get the acknowledgement of receipt email before you can apply for a BOWP.
