Hey guys,

I hope some of you will be able to help me on this.

I have applied for PR under the CEC category early in May 2013, still awaiting for the AOR which according to the spreadsheet and announced time frame should be sent to me anytime soon (fingers crossed).

I heard (but havent been able to find anything in writing to confirm) that once you receive the AOR you can take it to the border (ie niagara-buffalo) and get a 1 year open work permit delivered. I am wondering if some of you have experienced it and if there are specific restrictions? I know if your work permit expires in less than 4 months after ou receive the AOR you are automatically qualified for an open work permit. My current permit expires in a year but I would like to change my job thus an open work permit would be ideal.

If anyone has information and / or has been able to get an open work permit thanks to the AOR please share :) :)

Thanks in advance!

I believe what you're referring to is the Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP). To qualify to apply for the BOWP - your current work permit must have four months left or less to expiry.

YOU HAVE TO APPLY ONLINE YOU CAN'T TAKE IT TO THE BORDER AND GET AN OPEN WORK PERMIT USING IT.
