Open work permits for common-law partners in Canada

Hello everyone,

I am living in Canada with a valid work permit (expires in one year) and I am planning to apply for PR through common-law partner sponsorship. I have a medical situation and I noticed that the excessive demand determinations do not apply to my case. My question is: Is the excessive demand determinations also waived for open work permit application that I am going to apply along with my PR application? OR can a person with medical issue that causes excessive demand on health services get an open work permit with their family sponsorship application?

Note: I am asking this question because I read that a person needs to be in good health in order to apply for work permit.

As far as I know, the issuance of the OWP has absolutely nothing to do with the medical exam done in relation to the PR application. There's actually a stipulation on the OWP that it can't be used to work in the health care field because a medical examination is required to do that (so, clearly the PR medical exam doesn't contribute to that). So you should be completely fine to get an OWP.

Thank you KBH for your response. Do you know where in the CIC website I can find these information?
