So how are you eligible for open work permit? If spouse has PR then you apply, wait for AOR and then can apply for OWP. You are not eligible if you have not applied for PR.

I can apply for a work permit under the visitor record iv gone a completely different route for the open work permit
Sure. So it's one that others don't' know about. How can we help without know which stream/route? Different stream likely have different timeline.
As far as we know, if your spouse is PR and you haven't been sponsored and received AOR, you can't apply for OWP under the family class sponsorship.
If you have a different stream to apply for OWP, you aren't clear on how and what stream qualified you for that. (e.g. I know some people from Hong Kong and some from Ukraine can apply for OWP under certain requirement.)
From what I have researched and looked into I am eligible for OWP we are not going of the family class sponsorship I have a job that is required in Canada and I am all ready in Canada and applying with in Canada
If not through sponsorship or LMIA with closed work permit, how are you eligible?
Is that job LMIA exempted? If so your employer needs to file for that. If not, your employer needs to apply for LMIA. But both of those are close work permit.
Do your research and find out for your self I come here for some help dont a debate I would of been refused already if I wasn’t eligible to apply for a open work permit thanks for your no help
Good luck. If refused, then don’t come back and ask why it was refused. I know IRCC rules for OWP so since you did your research too then you know how you are eligible.

- are an international student who graduated from a designated learning institution and are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program
- are a student who’s no longer able to meet the costs of your studies (destitute student)
- have an employer-specific work permit and are being abused or at risk of being abused in relation to your job in Canada
- are a dependent family member of someone who applied for permanent residence
- are the spouse, common-law partner or dependent child of a low- or high-skilled worker
- are the spouse or common-law partner of an international student
- are the spouse or common-law partner of an applicant of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program or the Atlantic Immigration Program
- are a refugee, refugee claimant, protected person or you’re their family member
- are under an unenforceable removal order
- are a temporary resident permit holder
- are in Canada and being sponsored as a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner or accompanying dependent child
- are a Quebec investor who received a Quebec Notice of Intent to Select

It can take a long time to receive a refusal. I would recommend you order your GCMS notes to see the detailed stats of your application. Good luck.

Hi everyone
I am in the process of extending my Open work permit through the ISR/PSE2023 program
I have a few questions:
1) I don't have a WP attached to an employer ( since its an OPEN WORK PERMIT) and in the options I only have a) apply for a work permit with the same employer b) apply for a work permit for the first time c) restore status d) get new temp resident permit - I added A but its not exactly correct is it?
2) On the employment history - the "City / Town" is it the one I am working from OR the one my company is from - e.g my company is from Montreal but I work remotely in Vancouver.
3) Do I need to add all my 10 years experience even though there isnt enough space? why they just dont MAKE the space ( very annoying)
4) My child is a minor and I need to fill up his extension of Visitor form IMM5708 - the form doesnt realize its a child and therefore does not have employment history - can I just add Not applicable and invent some dates?
