Hi Leon,

If my aunt cannot sponsor visa to my Fiancee, Can my aunt help her in Open work permit visa option, Whats the procedure and requirements of this?

I have my Aunt ( Mother’s Sister ) in Canada, she is a citizen of Canada and is been in Canada for more than 40 years now. At present she is not employed but she has enough money that she does not require to do a job and takes care of her old parents at the moment.

The concern is, I want to know if she can sponsor visa to my Fiancee ( Not Married Yet ) for coming to Canada, Currently my fiancée is working in Dubai in a hospital as Medical transcriptionist. Kindly let me know the procedure and also the charges and the duration of the process. Also is IELTS exam required for this case.

Thanks & Regards
Cypriyan

Based on the information you have provided - your fiancee doesn't qualify for an open work permit.

She can certainly apply to come to Canada as a visitor. But she cannot work in Canada on visitor status.

Thanks Scylla again, i am sorry if my questions are immature.

Okay i went through CIC site which explains who can apply for an open work permit, I guess this is what u meant in the below response.

Can my aunt sponsor visa for my Fiancee on the basis of family and then she can look for job in Canada ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "sponsor". If you are asking if your aunt can sponsor your fiancee for permanent residency - then the answer is no.

Your finacee can certainly apply for a tourist visa and then come to Canada temporarily and try to find a job here. Note that in order to qualify for a work permit, your fiancee will not only have to find a job - but her employer must also obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process typically takes many months to complete and costs the employer $1,000 in fees + advertising costs. For the LMIA to be approved, her employer will have to prove that the job was advertised and no Canadians could be found to fill the role.

Thanks for fast response.

It sounds she has to come through Express entry way only.

Can my aunt sponsor permanent residency to me as she is my blood relative.

No - she can't.
