Open work permit with spouse sponsorship application.

Hi there,

I am submitting a spouse sponsorship application.

I am also submitting the open work permit form.

One question at the start of this form asks if you are applying for your first work permit... Or restoring a current work permit...

I am currently on an IEC open work permit. It expires March next year.

I figure I am "restoring"...
But it has not and will not have expired when I submit.

What is the rationale for the open work permit application associated with spouse sponsorship.

I presume they "quickly" assess our eligibility... But then issue an open work permit to allow me to continue working / contributing untill a full assessment has been made on The sponsorship application?

Any advice / experiences appreciated!

You're not restoring. You're applying for a new work permit.

Ok thank you but the form specifically says...
Applying for your "first" work permit?

But it's definetly not my first.

Or wth a new employer. Which is what this would come under. Besides which, none of the other choices are close. Definitely not restoration or applying for a TRP.
