My wife has been approved for a 1 year PGD course in BC. Assuming my wife gets a Student permit to start on September 1, 2013 and I get an OWP,

1) what will be the validity of my Open work permit?

2) Will it be 1 year from the date I enter Canada and can I enter Canada on a different date from my wife?

3) Also is the validity for 1 year irrespective of whether or not I get a job or 1 year from the day I get a job?

Thanks

No matter when you enter or get a job, your work permit will expire at the same time as your wife's study permit.

One question ,

How to extend the work permit after wife's study.

Your work permit will be based solely on your wife's status. Once her status is finished, yours is too; there is no option to extend the OWP.

However, if she is granted a Post Grad Work Permit and gets a job that is NOC 0, A or B skill level, you could apply for another OWP on the basis of that.

Or there is the possibility of qualifying for a work permit on your own merits. For example, once you come to Canada on the initial work permit and get a job, your employer might be willing to go through the LMO process to continue employing you.
