Open Work Permit to Closed - Worth it?

Hi,

Quick question,

I'm currently on an Open Work Permit from Working Holidays, set to expire in the middle of September this year. Now I have an employer who has me on permanently (undisclosed end time). However, I won't have been working there for one year until the end of August. This leaves me very little time to apply for PR!

Which makes me wonder if it's worth it or beneficial to apply for a new closed work permit for my current employer, which would theoretically give me more time to apply for PR? Or should I just hustle and apply for bridging my work permit when the time comes?

(and does all my work experience have to be in the same permit to count as continuous?)

To qualify for a closed work permit, your employer would need to obtain an approved LMIA.

Right. Do you think it's a good idea to do this? It'd get me more points for the CRS too... I just wonder if there's any reason not to, or another way to go.

It's a long and expensive process for your employer with no guarantee of approval. If your employer is willing to do it - by all means go ahead.
