Hello,

I just wanted to know if it is possible for my wife to work or study in Canada after we already sent an application for Sponsoring a spouse from outside Canada?
We heard that it is way faster if we apply for "outside Canada" but we still want to live together in Canada. I know that she can visit me, but is it also possible for her to do some kind of courses in Canada?

Any kind of help will be gladly appreciated.

She can come visit and do courses shorter than 6 months that do not give her college credits. If she wants to study for real, she needs to get accepted to a college and apply for a student visa. She will pay international tuition fees. She is not eligible for an open work permit.

Hey Leon,

thanks for the reply. I have another question: What if my sponsored wife comes to canada and gets a "working holiday visa". How about social security? Do we have to get a policy in Germany that covers her stay in Canada or what possibilities do we have?

Thank you very much

You mean health care? It is a requirement for the working holiday visa to have bought your own emergency health insurance. Once she gets her PR, she can apply for health care in the province where you live but she might have to wait for 3 months depending on which province.

That's correct. 3 month waiting period in Ontario to enjoy health card benefits.
