Open Work Permit -Spouse

Hi All,

I have a doubt about processing time for the Open Work Permit.
My wife is on a Student Visa in Ontario and I am on Visitor Visa living with her. I have applied for the Open Work Permit and have selected the application as "Applying within Canada".

The online system shows the processing time for application within Canada as 6 weeks but from India 23 weeks. I just wanted to know that will I fall in the 6 weeks category or 23 weeks given the fact that I am currently in Canada.

Good question. There would be a questionnaire to fill in your cic accout when you initiate a case. Place of residence would be asked at that point.

Yes, I filled it but that's what my doubt is. I have filled out the questionnaire but that you can fill outside Canada as well. You don't need to be physically present as its just a form?

Hi All,

I have a doubt about processing time for the Open Work Permit.
My wife is on a Student Visa in Ontario and I am in india. I have applied for the Open Work Permit

My ques. is - how much time does it takes usually and also i have shown 14000 CAD in my account and 9500 in my wife Student account my wife GIC account money will also consider or not

Hi, I also fall under the same category. In my scenario, my wife is working here in Toronto and I am living with her. I have applied my open permit on 1st of August, it looks like nothing has been processed or reviewed after confirmation message. Can anybody knows how long will it take and what will be the expected processing time duration for the Open work permit?

Hi,
I also have same case. I’m a full time student in a public college. My husband and kids have visitors visa and we have been panicking if is possible to apply inside Canada instead of going back to our home country. I’m relieved to have seen someone trying out because I have been in doubt of applying inside. Could you please let me know of the process you haven’t followed? Thanks

It looks like 6 weeks processing time has already been passed for you. You can use the web form to ask them the reason for this delay.

Does anyone have idea of the type of visa I will apply for one of my kids?
Can they apply for open work permit together with my husband? My oldest kid is 5years. Do I apply study permit or the spouse open work permit will cover? 5years is preschool age.
2: My husband and will apply inland. My kids are out side Canada but with TRV. do you think is okay to also add my kids in my husband’s inland application. Is it going to show in cic system my kids are not here yet ? They’re minor..

Is your spouse a student , or as you mentioned above , she is working, which one is it ?
