Open work permit, Spousal Sponsorship out of Canada (Buffalo)

Hi Everyone,

My spouse is sponsoring me for permanent residency. She is a Canadian citizen, and I am from the USA.

We are going to send out application to Buffalo for processing. Am I eligible for an open work permit at any point?

If not, I am able to work under a NAFTA work permit as well. When the application is going forward... can I leave Canada, and then come back in and get an open work permit under NAFTA? Or, will they reject me because I am applying for my permanent residency?

Any insight would be helpful, or pointing me to any documents would be great. Thank you in advance! 8)

1. No you are not entitled to an open work permit as your is an "out of Canada' sponsorship.
2. For Nafta, if you qualify, you still need a job offer from a Canadian employer.
