Hi !

my commonlaw partner got an extension of his closed wp, valid until Oct 2018 (renewable at least one more time since work contract goes until May 2019).

His employer is in Nunavut so that is where he currently lives. Previously we lived as temp residents in Quebec (QC) with our minor son. Our son and I had to go back to France this year so we are applying from there to go back.

Do you think there is a chance I can obtain OWP and our son a Study permit, and live in another province (i.e. QC) ??

Does OWP show any mention of authorized Province of residence for permit holder ?

Thank you.

Hi

Given that his work permit will have less than 6 months validity, you will not qualify for an OWP. You can enter Canada as visitors. Normally, children of work permit holders can study without a study permit. However, as the permit holder does not live in Quebec, I can't say if schools there would accept your son to study.

Thanks Canuck for your quick reply. I cannot find the information about the 6 months validity rule on the cic website but anyway
, when can my partner start applying for a new extension (knowing that his current closed wp one expires in Oct), is there also a timeline rule ?

Also, can you transform a visitor visa in a spouse OWP while in Canada ?

Just for info, schoolboard in QC agrees to issue letter of acceptance for study permit for the child of a CLOSED wp holder who does not live in QC but not to the holder of an OPEN wp who lives in QC...

He can apply a few months before his current permit expires. There is no set timeline.

Yes, you can apply to change your status from visitor to worker within Canada.

Also Canuk, what is the deadline to enter Canada once you received your wp or study permit, is it 6 months max before expiration of dixit permit, or 3 months, or no set timeline ? Again, I cannot find that info on the CIC website.

There is no set deadline by which you must come to Canada.

Merci beaucoup Canuck, and thank you to Canadavisa for enabling the sharing of info nowhere to be found on official websites. Very useful and comforting.

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum. I have few questions regarding Spousal Open Work Permit.

1. I hold a closed WP for Canada, I am planning to apply SOWP (My wife is in India currently) online. Is it mandatory to provide my payslip, because I do not have any payslips generated yet in Canada.
2. My Wife works in India, Does it mean before applying she will have to resign?
3. I want to process my daughter's Visitor visa Application too along with my wife? does it need 2 separate applications or they can be linked?
4. Finally, any medical test or Biometric required?

Please Help!!! Urgent!!! Thanks in advance.

# 3- How will I make it same application? Please advise.

Helo,

Please anyone help me with suggestion that my visit visa was rejected for 4 times so applied spouse open work permit on April 1st, 2018.. I did not receive any updates till date .. it’s already 2 months ... the general processing time is showing working on applications April 2 ... so when I can get the response ... this delay means positive or negative????

Kindly anyone give me the reason for the delay ???

With 4 previous refusals, you have little chance of approval. Did you request GCMS notes and address the issues in your previous apps? Or did you just keep applying and getting refused?

Yes I received gcms notes as well ... it says purpose of visit ... but I submitted many reasons for my visit... so finally we applied sowp.

What should I apply now .. if me and my husband apply for PR ...they will approve with these previous rejections ??? We have the required score as of now
