Open work permit on closed work permit

Hello Forum readers,

I hope the question in right form thread.

I have received my AOR number for PR processing in Nov, 13.
Recently I found the need to apply for open work permit.

We have came across a doubt about existing work permit for my wife.

Right now she has dependent wp on my closed wp.
If I apply for the open work permit application, do I or her employer need to apply for a separate wp for my wife? or the existing WP will do?

If you apply for the BOWP, your wife becomes eligible for the SOP ( spousal open work permit ). So you both have
an open work permit. You don't need a LMO of help of your employer for the BOWP and SOP application and this
can be done on your own.

I checked the BOWP details cic website and it states that 'WP that is due to expire within 4 months'. But currently my closed wp and visa both are till Apr' 2015.
Do I have any chance to receive the owp.

Chances are that if you apply, your application will be rejected based on you being ineligible as of right now.
Some people still apply with a letter of explanation and explain their situation, but you might end up wasting
the application fee.

I'd say, unless you able to write very good explanation letter it'll be waste of your money. They had changed Operations Bulletin 485 in September last year and I've recently got refusal letter which is not even edited properly before being sent to me. Specifically, it was saying that I did not provided proof that my immigration case is approved in principle (of course I sent them an AOR letter scan). OK, next bullet was that I have no WP that will expire in 4 months, which was true.

I have another question on the same lines. If fortunately BOWP is accepted what will happen to my closed work permit which is valid till 2015.

Did you apply again for another BOWP? What did you go after getting BOWP, how will you continue your work?

I am applying my bowp online, do I have to apply sowp at the same time. Or It can be done after we get confirmation for my bowp.
Also, online there are couple of docs that needs to be done. Is there anything i am missing?
