I am a visitor to Canada and my husband is a PhD student here. So being eligible for work permit, I applied for the same on 26th Feb 2014.
As per CIC website the process could be faster if one applies online and completes the medical examination in advance. so I opted for both the options to get me an Open work permit within 16-19 days (the timeline mentioned on website).
I completed my medical examination in advance on 10th Feb and applied on 26th Feb. But when I did not receive any communication from CIC even after it crossed 1 month time, I called the agent and he told that my medical test results are not yet submitted by the doctor to CIC and the application is on hold !!!!!!. He told that he has written an email to doctor and I should wait for one week to receive the decision..
Yet another disappointment..I did not receive any email from CIC after one week so I called again and got the same reason for delay. I called to the doctor and surprisingly i got to know that the results were submitted online on 1st March itself and I got proof of that as well. Again I called the agent and informed about the same..Now comes the interesting part of it.. CIC agent said that it can take 3 months for them to get the medical test results in their system..In other words the medical results document will take three months to reach from doctor's computer to their computer in this technologically advanced word..such an hard to believe reason was given to me..And top of that he told me not to call till three months are completed. Wow.. the online processing time for this week is only 13 days and applications till 14th March are processed..So why it is and exception for me..Please help me in understanding their reason..Its disappointing of CIC..
Please tell me if this is a normal situation and the reason given for delay can be true..
