Hi guys,
Has anyone any information regarding the 'open' work permit for common law partners?
My partner and I are currently living in Canada (we are Irish) on a one year visa, which expires in September 2012. We applied for our second year and my partner has just been accepted and I have been rejected(due to a mistake I made on my form). I reapplied but numbers are running low and I am doubtful I will receive one at this point.
I read online about an 'open' permit. It says if your partner is working as a skilled worker(which he is), you can get a visa that allows you to work for as long as he can. The link below gives you some info, under 'Can my spouse or common-law partner work in Canada?' http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/work/index.asp
However, I cannot seem to find information regarding the actual application process etc. Can anyone help me with this, please??????
Thanks!
