Open work permit for spouse

I am a citizen of India currently residing in USA. My wife, also an Indian citizen is in Toronto, Canada on a work permit. I would like to visit Canada, but at the same time I would also want to look for a job in Canada. I heard I can apply for an Open Work Permit, and I could work as long as my wife's visa is valid.

1. To apply for an open work permit, should I have to fill out both IMM1295E and IMM5257?
2. Is it possible to to have same day service for an open work permit?
3. How long would it take if I mailed-in all my documents?

I did look for earlier posts about this topic, but I could not find anything. Your help would be highly appreciated.

If I have to rephrase my question, does it take the same time and same documents to apply for a regular open work permit or an open work permit? From what I know, open work permit would be issued at the time of entry into Canada unlike the regular work permit. That's what is bothering me.

Anybody got any idea about it?

Hi Vinay,

Even my husband had to visit me in canada from US. There was same day service in detroit consulate, but recently due to their system upgradation they are not entertaining this.
Does anybody has any idea whether the same day service has again being strted in detroit and buffalo consulates?
