Open work permit for spouse visitor visa

Hi,
i am a PR holder of canada, i want to bring my husband.I know i can apply for PR for him but that takes very long, almost a year. so if i bring him with spouse visitor visa for now, once he arrives in canada can he apply for an open work permit....will he get it?? Also, once he arrives, then i want to apply for his PR from canada...how long does it take to get the PR then?

If you sponsor your spouse using the inside of Canada (inland) process, your spouse will qualify for an open work permit once the application has first stage approval. First stage processing is currently taking 8 months.

He cannot apply for an open work permit as soon as he arrives in Canada - he won't qualify.

What I described above is really the only option for you. Sponsor him inland and they wait for first stage approval.

No, if he applies for the OWP before the first stage approval, he will get denied.

He can look for an employer to provide a LMO to get a closed work permit, but these are rare.

There is no quick fast track. That is why we are all here on this forum. Submit your application and be prepared to wait what maybe a year and at least 6 months.

Getting AIP is currently taking 5 to 6 months. If u send the owp application with ur inland pr application u will get the owp with ur first stage approval letter. 5 to 6 months is not that long to wait, and the waiting time may get shorter with the way vegreville is moving these days. Sponsor applications are being processed really quickly these days.
