Open work permit extension

Hi everybody! Hope you're all doing well

I have a question about the extension of an open work permit (I have an Italian passport and apparently it's allowed to extend the work permit for a second year). I wouldn't fall neither in the job offer extension category nor in the Want to change employers one, because I haven't find another job yet and my permit expires in May while my current job contract will last until the end of March. Do you know in which cases the option Wrong date in the passport is valid ? Since I should be allowed to stay up to 2 years I was thinking that could be a good one, given that my permit is for one year... If anyone went through this process I would really appreciate to hear about the experience and the documents you prepared to do it! thanks a lot

How are you eligible to extend an open work permit? If on IEC, you need to enter the pool again, get selected and reapply.

You are only eligible to extend an open work permit for specific situation. If on IEC, need a new IEC permit.

If open work permit is expiring and you wan to change employers then you need an approved LMIA or company applies for LMIA exemption if applicable and you apply for closed work permit. A job offer extension doesn’t anything if work permit is expiring.

Are you on IEC and not changing employers and eligible for YP?

You need to tell us what kind of work permit you are currently on (there are many diff OWPs, SOWP for spouse of other work permit holders/study permit holders, PGWP (graduates of some post-secondary), VOWP, OWP for refugees, OWP under some special policies, and working holiday open work permit just to name a few)

It's impossible to know if your work permit belongs to ones that can be extended. And under what condition.

I’m sorry I thought I had specified it but I just realized I haven’t! Thank you for the patience It’s a working holiday visa and I’m eligible for an extension…it’s not clear to me but I think I fall into IEC category. Reasons of extension could be a looking for a new employer, job offer extended, wrong expiration date…this is all I got
