Hi Everyone,

I am currently having my owp has the same expiry date(Nov28 2012) with my husband's study permit,
his study permit extension has been submitted online for a month, my mistake is not apply with him as a family member,
My quesitons are:
1, Do I need to wait my husband's study permit to apply my owp extension? if so, can I submit my application online or by paper now,
and re-submit his study permit after we get it from cic.

2, As we all know, in this case, my owp's expiry date is based on my husband's study permit, so that means cic need his study permit,
but his is still in process, If I do not submit, there will be fine,
which choice is better?
Choice 1, wait his study permit, then submit online, pay the fine
Choice 2,wait his study permit, then submit by paper, pay the fine,
Choice 3,submit online now without his study permit, just wait
choice 4, submit by paper now, then wait.

if submit online, there is no option for upload my husband's study permit, can I upload his with mine?

Thank you so much guys.

Here is your best option if you want to continue working. Choice 4.

You will be on implied status until the final determination on your work permit. If they reject it because of the missing study permit, you are in the same situation you will be in on November 29th. If you apply by paper at least you will be able to provide a a cover letter explaining the situation, as well as including a copy of your husband's study permit. When everything is said and done, your husband will have received his study permit in the meantime and you could always re-apply if you are rejected. In this way, you are still able to work on implied status.

Thank you so much, if I want to make sure to get the owp extension, which option is best?
Choice 2? Please advise.
Thanks again.

Your OWP extension is based upon your husband's study permit. Therefore, your best option is the one in which you have his study permit.

If you want to be 100% guaranteed, wait for the study permit in hand then re-apply. You will lose your current work permit in the meantime and will be unable to work.

Like I said, option 4 is the best route if you want to continue working. With a great submission, you will get the OWP. Sloppy submission, you will get rejected.

Thank you very much,
I will choose option 4, the additional supporting documents I will provid are:
My husband's
1,Photocopies of passport and study permit.
2,Photocopy of Marriage certificate.
3,Receipt of his study permint extension.
4,His transcript(original)
5,His school letter( original)
Is any other document I am missing? Please advise.
The only thing I am worried about is the cover letter, could you please advise what I should say in this letter?

Thanks again.

You can still submit online even if it is 'option 4'. Before you finalize submitting the application, the online system will provide you a list of documents you need to upload. Additional documents that are not specified at the web checklist before you submit the online application may be scanned along with other documents as one, and then uploaded. Even of there is no option to upload your husband's study permit, you may scan it along with your other support documents and then upload it. The advantage for the online submission is that you get a receipt in MyCIC immediately that the application has been submitted. Paper applications - you may have to wait for a mailed notice.

So you are on implied status since Friday, having applied before the expiry of your work permit. It was unfortunate that you were not able to add in the SP of your husband - this would have been the basis for your extension. And there is no clear instruction on how to add a document after mailing in the renewal/extension application (to CPC Vegreville). Typically if there are needed documents the office processing the application may request submission of these; I suggest you place a call to CIC (Call Centre) and ask how to add a document to a submitted extension application to CPC-V and get instructions.

/all the best to you...
