I read on another website that at a certain point or phase during your skilled worker application process, you can apply for an open work permit (basically making you eligible to go to Canada prior to full approval of your skilled worker application). Does anyone know about this? I can't seem to find much info on this. I am wondering at what point would you be eligible? The reason I ask is we are going to send in our application soon and want to move up to BC soon in the next 6 mos if possible (we are US citizens). Thanks!

Not true at all. In fact, each process is independent and has nothing to do one to the other. But you can apply separate for each process at the same time.

Okay, thanks. I guess from what I read on another site it seemed like there was a certain point during the skilled worker app process that you are eligible to apply for an open work permit. I guess I am confused because when I researched the open work permit, it basically states if you are the spouse of someone holding a temp work permit, spouse of a student, etc you can apply for an open work permit...nothing about applying while your skilled worker app is being processed.
