Open work Permit - Contractor

Hello,

Just have a quick question, am I eligible to work as a contractor and can charge the employer on hourly basis? I have an open work permit. I am currently working as a full time employee though. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have an open work permit you can do whatever you want to. So yes - you can certainly work as a contractor.

Oh thats sounds great. Just a little background, I did my Bachelors and got my open work permit for three years. I can work full time and part time as well? So technically I dont have the self employed status but I can work as independent contractor and I will be getting T4a or T4? Also can you please post a link or source here so that I refer to and get little more information. Thanks a lot for your prompt and quick response!

So you're on a post graduate work permit right now - correct? If you're planning on applying for PR through CEC, then don't go the contractor route - stick with being an employee. Contractors don't get T4s and don't qualify for CEC.

Yes thats correct! I see. Good to know that. So does my 1 year experience have to be with my same employer or it can be consolidated?, as I have two employers since my graduation. Sorry I am asking too much ;D Do you recommend PNP ontario over CEC?

I think you can bill as a temporary worker (Contractor). IMO you cannot incorporate unless you have the PR assessment done. You will invoice the employer and they will write you a check. But you won't get any T4's for that amount of work. Again if you are planning for CEC, go the other way around been said by scylla
