Open Work Permit and Traveling for INLAND apps

(sorry if this question has already been answered or is in the wrong thread)

Does anyone know if the OWP is issued immediately (or at least soon) after your inland application is received?

I know outland apps for US citizens are processed way faster than inland apps. But I don't mind waiting longer if I am allowed to work. Everyone so far seems to be recommending outland apps though. *stuck in a conundrum*

My other concern is traveling outside of Canada with an inland app. My common-law partner and I have a trip potentially planned for late summer (and it may be for 1 or 2 months). Right now, I am currently requesting to extend my visitor status. So, would we only be allowed to do a typical canadian vacation of 2 weeks? Are outland apps not restricted to how much you want to travel if you have the proper visitor extension....in which case, would that also be sufficient for inland apps?

Personally, I prefer being able to work and waiting longer for the PR, but not at the cost at being unable to travel.

Read this and travel at your own risk: Hands down the most often asked question from Inland applicants

OWP appears to be taking some months to be sent out. Look at the recent OWP threads to get a feel for the general/average timeline.
The link didn't work for me so here it is again:

Expect a minimum of 4 months after submitting app according to CIC stated target, but could possibly take longer.

There are 2 problems with this.
1. If you are refused entry back to Canada for whatever reason, your inland app would be cancelled and would need to start again from scratch.
2. A requirement of inland is that you are residing in Canada. If CIC notices that you have been outside the country for an extended time, they may think you are no longer a resident here and will simply cancel your application.

Are outland apps not restricted to how much you want to travel if you have the proper visitor extension....in which case, would that also be sufficient for inland apps?
First off, every time you leave Canada any visitor status extensions you may have in process or already granted, are cancelled the second you leave. Visitor status does not follow you outside Canada. You would be considered to be applying for a brand new visitor status upon re-entry to Canada.

And second, outland apps are completely different from inland. Outland apps don't have either of the 2 issues I just pointed out above. With an outland app you can come and go from Canada as you please, simply based on being visa-exempt and maintaining proper status while in Canada. Being refused entry to Canada has zero impact to an outland app as it would just continue on wherever you happen to be residing.
