I want to try common-law and is it possible to open a joint bank account with my canadian gf and myself. I have just passport from visa exempt country, I want to ask:

1.will the bank accept my passport and visitor visa with her canadian residency card?
2. which banks have you had success with?

You can open a joint account with visitor visa and your passport is acceptable and good enough

Hello, my husband and I were able to open our joint bank account at CIBC, we had no problem, I showed my visitor record and my pass port.

Where did you get visitor record from and does the bank require a minimum ammount to be deposited into the account or would 50$ be enough.

We sent a visitor extension along with my PR application and after about 3 month I got my visitor record in the mail, there was no minimum amount to be deposited, Good Luck
